Up Close x Unscripted -2018

In 2018, the Rose Theatre in Brampton approached me to create an illustration for their “Up Close x Unscripted series in Studio 2. The goal was attract a new, younger generation to the Rose theatre I designed and illustrated using bold contrasting colours that would capture the energy of the event and resonate with the youth. The rose bud in the hair of the central figure represented the budding talent to take center
stage. Simple design gave the illustration versatility for various design channels.

The illustration was successful in advertising the show across multiple platforms including print, large screens and on buses. The bold and straightforward design proved effective in drawing the target audience to the “Up Close x Unscripted” show.

To the right, white text lists event dates and names related to a music and arts series in Brampton. To the left, the text reads 'This is Brampton'. Bold text at the bottom says 'The Rose'. Additional small text provides contact information and social media handles.

Arrive -2021

‘ARRIVE’ was a digital illustration that I made in 2021. This work features a young man with a single piece of luggage. He finds himself in a new land, hopeful of a better life and a bright future. Brampton Art Organization (then ACCIDA) accepted it as part of the ‘Your Artist Story’ digital exhibition which centered artists based or raised in Brampton.

Brampton is a city with a large immigrant population. Because the character featured in this piece of mine is so relatable in the city, it was chosen as part of a program to wrap local street light boxes with local art.

In This skin -2019

‘IN THIS SKIN’ was a multi-disciplinary show that was held in Studio II at the Rose Theatre in downtown Brampton. It was curated by Brampton’s Very Own (as part of the This Is Brampton Studio Series, and celebrated Black excellence during Black History Month. The challenge I was given was to create an illustration that captures the spirit of the event while remaining modern and classy.

To bring this vision to life, I chose to illustrate a woman of African descent clothed in a strong style using very simple shades and colours. This conveyed the message effectively while allowing space for the typography to breathe.

Theatre lives -2022

A few years ago I had the opportunity to design some merch for Performing Arts Brampton. The pieces I submitted were a reference to the iconic scene from the play ‘Hamlet’.
The back of the shirt featured bold wording with the memorable phrase “THEATRE LIVES” printed across the shoulder. This part of the design was also made by yours truly.

we need each other -2023

This series of illustrations was animated with the help of AVA Inc for the City of Brampton’s “Night Lights’ initiative. My piece, along with those of a few other talented artists was projected on the side of city hall for the public to enjoy.

From streets to streams -2023

"From Streets to Streams" - Catchbasin Art Project seeks to raise awareness of underground stormwater pollution through art murals. I had the privilege of participating in the pilot edition of the program back in 2023. I hope to be able to get involved in more projects that marry art and awareness.

Below, a smaller painted area with the message, "I like the home, clean too," includes images of three animals, likely raccoons. A small white sign reads, "From visitors to shelters, respect and protect wildlife."
