After dropping the long anticipated album, "whole lotta red," Jordan Carter, better known as playboi carti, hinted at the release of a deluxe and album titled "narcissist," which (in true carti fashion) never released. in an interview, carti cleared the air about the release of an album, claiming to title it "music." throughout the years of 2023 and 2024, carti would drop singles on his instagram and youtube page, always announced by a british man screaming: "new carti... tonight!" 

Though supposed to release in 2024, playboi finally dropped his fourth studio album, music, on march 14, 2025. with a 30 song tracklist, carti continued to expand on his rage rap/trap artstyle seen on his previous album with songs like "pop out" and "evil jordan" while adding in a new, low voice rap cadence on songs like "toxic" and "walk."

the album contains features from artists such as the weeknd, skepta, lil uzi vert, young thug, and kendrick lamar. producer swamp izzo makes an appearance in most songs by his snare tag, screaming his name or offering dialogue similar to dj drama or dj khaled, a feature in the album that took a while to grow on listeners, but is now widely appreciated.

jordan carter took a while to drop his album so much so that his deluxe (yes, he actually dropped a deluxe) contains an apology in the title: "sorry 4 da wait." as his north american tour continues, this album proves to be widely accepted, appreciated,  and good moshpit material.
